Glenn Higbee

Glenn Ellis Higbee, 83

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Glenn Ellis Higbee, 83, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away February 18, 2019 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg; Glenn would have wanted it to be known, that his life was certainly more than the day he died.  He was born October 24, 1935 in Kellogg; Glenn was the son of Jay and Helen (Rosenbaum) Higbee.

Glenn was a life-long resident of the Silver Valley.  He attended and graduated from the Kingston High School in 1953.  Glenn proudly served in the U.S. Army.

Glenn married Marbie (Brandt) Wilhelm on May 11, 2002 in Kellogg, Idaho.

Glenn had first worked as a logger with his dad and brother- J.A. Higbee & Sons Logging Company.  He then went to work for the Bunker Hill Mining Company for twenty-five years as a boilermaker/master welder, until its closure.  Glenn then went to work for the Hanford Nuclear Plant as a supervisor.   He also worked for Mine Fabrication and Machine Company as a welder and lastly as a truck driver for the EPA clean-up.

Glenn was a member of the Kellogg Elks #1841 for sixty-three years, a member of the St. Maries Elks, a member of the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg,  the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the NRA and Ducks Unlimited.

Glenn loved and enjoyed his family, camping with family and friends, hunting, fishing, ATVing, senior dancing, bowling, darts and a good drink with friends.

Glenn is survived by his wife Marbie Higbee of the family home of Cataldo; his daughter Carolyn (Jason) Wiebe of Spokane, Washington; step-daughter Jeanette Nunes of Grass Valley, California; son-in-law Kirk Jones of Edmonds, Washington;  granddaughters Hannah Potter and Olivia Wiebe; step-grandchildren Nikki Fassler, Robbyn Nunes, Kristy Norenberg; six great-grandchildren; two brothers Jay (Betty) Higbee of Cataldo, Idaho and Tom (Sally) Higbee also of Cataldo; wonderful neighbors Terry and Robin Groth; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister Mary Helen, his first wife Patricia Rinaldi Higbee, his daughter Connie Jones, grandson Justin Jones and son-in-law Joseph Nunes.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg with Father Jerome Montez serving as celebrant.  A reception/luncheon will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall following services.  A Celebration of Glenn’s Life will also be held at 2:00 P.M. at the Broken Wheel Restaurant of Kellogg; everyone is welcome.

We love you, we will miss you and we know surely as we know anything, we will see you again.  We are richer, better and stronger because of you; you were a true gentleman.
