Dorothy Jean Miller, 82

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Miller, 82, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away December 10, 2019 at Mountain Valley of Cascadia of Kellogg.  She was born November 20, 1937 in Kellogg; Dorothy was the daughter of Alvie and Helen (Heikkila) McGillivray.

Dorothy has lived in the Silver Valley all of her life.  She attended and graduated from the Kellogg High School in 1956.

Dorothy married James Miller on June 22, 1956 in Kellogg; James passed away in August of 1997.

Dorothy and her husband James, had owned and operated Miller’s Food City of Cataldo for many years. They then owned and operated the Third Generation Restaurant of Cataldo along with their son, Virgil.  And lastly, Dorothy served as a grocery clerk at Barney’s Foods of Pinehurst for more than twenty years, before her retirement.

Dorothy loved and enjoyed her family and many friends she had made through the years working in the grocery business.  Dorothy had a very strong work ethic and was an avid Gonzaga fan.

Dorothy is survived by two children Orville and his wife Lynn Miller of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and Brenda and her husband Pete Rinaldi of Valleyford, Washington; two granddaughters Ashley Rinaldi of Portland, Oregon and Holly Foley of Boston, Massachusetts; one great-grandson Wesyn Thomas; her sister-in-laws Harriet Lawrence of Council, Idaho, Clara Wingfield of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Penny Miller of Rathdrum, Idaho, Lena McGillivray of Kingston, Idaho and Marion McGillivray also of Kingston; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Miller, one son Virgil Miller, one daughter Sheila Miller, two brothers Chuck and Warren; and one sister Helen.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Pinehurst with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating.  A reception/luncheon will be held at the church following services.  Interment will be held at the Hunt Cemetery of Kingston.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Hunt Cemetery, P.O. Box 722 Pinehurst, Idaho 83850.
