Cynthia “Cindy” Rae Doney, 72
Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, teacher and friend, Cynthia “Cindy” Rae Doney, 72, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away September 12, 2019 at Kootenai Health of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She was born May 17, 1947 in Spokane, Washington; Cindy was the daughter of Walter and Doris (Nodland) Holmquist.
Cindy has lived in the Silver Valley her entire life. She attended and graduated from the Wallace High School in 1965; she then attended and received her bachelors degree in education from the University of Idaho.
Cindy married Lloyd Alan Doney on June 5, 1970 in Wallace, Idaho; they later divorced.
Cindy was an elementary school teacher and had taught at the Osburn Elementary, the Wallace Elementary school and the Silver Hills Elementary, before her retirement in 2002; she had taught for thirty-four years. Cindy loved and enjoyed teaching and the children she had taught; in later years those students would often visit with her and express their love and appreciation to Cindy as a very special teacher who had touched their lives.
Cindy was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi, the Idaho Education Association, a former member of the United Church of Christ Congregational of Wallace and a member of the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg.
Cindy loved and enjoyed her family, gardening flowers and tomatoes, visiting and chatting with friends, gambling and camping up the river. She was an avid Gonzaga Bulldog and Seattle Seahawk fan. Cindy especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s games and would never miss a game if she could help it.
Cindy is survived by her daughters Keri (Eric) Tester of Osburn, Idaho and Casey (Jeremy) Bergem also of Osburn; three grandchildren Jacob Tester, Joshua Tester and Brianna Bergem; one brother Roger (Mary) Holmquist of Spokane Valley, Washington. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Tommy Holmquist.
A Celebration of Cindy’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., at the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg. A reception/luncheon will be held at the church following services; everyone is welcome.
Cindy was dearly loved by her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.
