Carol F. Cannaday, 84
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Carol F. Cannaday, 84, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away peacefully, April 26, 2019 at the family home. She was born August 29, 1934 in Spokane, Washington. She was the daughter of Alfonso and Estella (Rinoehl) Hunt.
Carol attended grade school at a little Cataldo school house and went on to attend high school at Kingston High. Her senior year she met the love of her life, Bruice Cannaday, and before graduation they were united in marriage on February 16, 1952, at her parent’s Cataldo homestead. Bruice and Carol had many adventures around the western United States before returning home to the Silver Valley to have and raise their three children. During this time Carol was busy with Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts, Gleeners, and an active member and primary teacher of the LDS church. Bruice and Carol spent thirty-eight cherished years together until the time of his passing in 1990. Carol decided that it was time to change things up and began working as a office administrator at Telesystems. She very much enjoyed working and learning so many new things, but after 8 years decided it was time to retire and enjoy her family, so in 1998 she returned to her family homestead to do just that.
Carol was a lifelong resident of Cataldo and an active historian of the area. She helped organize and attended the Cataldo Picnic for the community for years. She enjoyed seeing her lifelong friends for lunch each month at the “Kingston Kid Luncheon”. Carol also found time for gardening, camping, fishing, cake decorating, and was known to be a gifted artist and singer. She loved to watch birds, hunt for mushrooms and old bottles, and became an avid pinterest user in her later years.
Carol is survived by her three children, Alan Cannaday of Black Lake, Idaho, Tracy Cannaday of Kingston, Idaho and Idona Cannaday of Cataldo, Idaho; fourteen grandchildren and twenty six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruice Cannaday; her parents, older sister, Ruby Belousek; and a baby brother and sister.
