Beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, William “Lance“ Foster, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away May 24, 2016 at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, Idaho. He was born May 1, 1950 in Wallace, Idaho; Lance was the son of William and Lucille (Brush) Foster.
Lance grew up in Burke, Idaho and graduated from Wallace High School in 1968.
Lance worked as a miner in the Star Mine for over fifteen years. He was a life long resident of the Silver Valley.
In 1971, he married Shirley Longley and together they had two daughters. They later divorced but remained friends.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and photography. Lance wrestled in high school before taking up fencing in college at Idaho State University, which he enjoyed tremendously. Lance was a devoted son; he was a friendly and outgoing person and will be missed by many.
Lance is survived by his family, former wife Shirley Longley of Osburn, Idaho; his daughters Tina (Tony) Dechand of Osburn, and Krista Hansen-Morgan (Michael Morgan) of Coeur d’Alene; four sisters, Sandra Hill of Denham, Lousiana, Peggy (Dale) Tateri of Kellogg, Sheila Foster of Pinehurst and Rayleen (Roger) Potratz of Mullan, Idaho; three grandchildren, Thomas Hansen of Coeur d’Alene, Samantha Dechand of Spokane, Washington and Seth Dechand of Osburn; nieces and nephews, Arthur, Jackie, Angelia, Pam, Kenny, Sheri, Peggy, Becki, Ponch, Greer, Josh and Matt. Lance is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Daniel Hill, nephew Danny, great-niece Melissa and great-nephew Josh.
