Wendell Leroy Swigart, 80

How fitting for this strong man of faith, that on a quiet Sunday morning at 6 a.m. surrounded by only his wife, step-daughter and two very caring nurses at the Hospice House of Coeur d’Alene, the Lord answered his prayers and let him join that heavenly choir with his body and voice healed from cancer. He has as scripture says “Fought the Good Fight finished the race and kept the faith now his reward is heaven.” II Tim 4:6-8 He will be missed and a big void will be among us, but we also rejoice that his 15 years battle with illness is done.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Wendell Leroy Swigart, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away March 6, 2016 at the Hospice House of  Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho. He was born January 6, 1936 in Fruitland, Idaho. Wendell was the son of Ernest and Blanch (Calkins) Swigart.

Wendell moved to the Silver Valley in 1952. He worked as a miner for many years before retiring.

On November 14, 1969, Wendell was united in marriage to Claudia Dill in Pinehurst, Idaho.                       .

Wendell loved the outdoors and enjoyed going snow skiing and fishing. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling in his RV. Wendell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Wendell had a strong faith and was a member of Church of Christ of Pinehurst. He was also a member of the Pinehurst Lions Club.

Wendell is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Claudia Swigart of Pinehurst, Idaho
Five children; Richard (Janine) Swigart of Pinehurst, Idaho, John (Valaire) Swigart of Spokane, Washington, Debra Fuller of Colville, Washington, David Dill of Coeur ’d Alene, Idaho and Deborah Dill-Hayes of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; One brother Jim Swigart of St. Michaels, North Dakota and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ken Swigart, sister Mary McCreary and granddaughter Angela.

Cremation will take place and family services will be held at a later date.
