Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother and uncle Walter Tenhonen, 91, of Enaville, Idaho, passed away January 25, 2014 at the family home of Enaville. He was born April 9, 1922 in Enaville. Walter was the son of Manne and Hilma (Warpenius) Tenhonen. He grew up in Enaville as a boy and he remembered going to the Finn Hall dances with his parents, brother and sister.
Walter loved working in the woods as a sawyer and a hooker. He also rode the log drives down the river as a young man.
Walter loved and enjoyed his family, huckleberry picking, hunting and fishing. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke you listened. Walter worked hard, played hard and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Walter married Ellen Rieken on December 12, 1971 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; Ellen passed away on February 27, 2010.
Walter is survived by his son Michael (Connie) Tenhonen of Osburn, Idaho; his daughter Shirley (Dan) Villiard of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister Helvi Waldvogel of Silverton, Idaho; Walter is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ellen and brother Osmo “Ozzie” Tenhonen.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg.
