Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Walter Aloysius Schulhauser, 92, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away on April 11, 2016 at Pacifica in Pinehurst. Wally was born July 11, 1923 in Wardner, Idaho; he was the son of Charles and Mary (Pankratz) Schulhauser.

Wally grew up in the Silver Valley and graduated from Kellogg High School where he earned numerous letters in basketball and track. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army (231st Engineer Battalion) during World War II, stationed in the Aleutian Islands.

He was united in marriage to Clara Kraft on November 11, 1948 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Parshall, North Dakota.

Wally worked as a maintenance control dispatcher for the Bunker Hill Smelter and was employed there for 41 years. He was an active member of the Osburn V.F.W. and the Bunker Hill 20 Year Club. He was also the recipient of the RSVP Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award and the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Wally was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace and for several years was a regular attendee at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and duck hunting.

Wally is survived by his four children, Tony (Jan) Schulhauser of Spokane Valley, Washington, Linda (George) Selvy of Lynnwood, Washington, Mark (Donna) Schulhauser of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jean (Steve) Reynaud of Marysville, Washington; his grandchildren Eric, Jill, Brett, Ryan, Stefanie and Christopher; his great-grandchildren Emily, Andrew, Ethan, Aidan, Taylor, Samantha and Kate.

Wally is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Clara, and his sisters Teresa, Gertrude, Margaret, Helen, and Rita and his brother Edwin.

A Rosary Vigil will be held on April 26, 2016, 7PM at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg, Idaho. A Memorial Mass will be held on April 27, 2016, 11AM, also at St. Rita’s. A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall after services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations can be made in Wally’s honor to VFW Post 1675, 4th & Mullan, Osburn, ID 83849.
