Vonda Faye Aamodt, 88, of Kellogg, ID, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away June 5, 2024 at Silverton Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia in Silverton, ID surrounded by her family.
Vonda was born on August 27, 1935 in Willow City, ND, a daughter of the late Jesse Marie Knapp and George Eugene Harding. Vonda graduated from Willow City High School, Class of 1952. She married Maurice Wesley Aamodt on September 21, 1952. The couple had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary prior to his death in 1992.
Vonda worked for many years as a baker at Pik Kwik bakery in Kellogg. With her entrepreneurial spirit, she owned and operated Vonda’s Craft Shop in Kellogg. After the economic downturn due to the Bunker Hill Mine closure, Vonda became a CNA and worked several years at Silverwood Good Samaritan (now Silverton Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia).
Vonda was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Kellogg, the church quilting group, Rebekka’s Women’s Benefit Association, the Pythian Sisters, the Red Hat Society, and the Grandmother’s Club. She very much enjoyed her meetings with a group of friends to play Pinochle.
In addition to her parents and husband, Maurice, Vonda is preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Hudson; two sisters, Doris Kitzman and Joyce Aamodt; and one grandson, Steven Hudson.
Vonda is survived by three children; Mike Aamodt (daughter in-law Teresa Crow) of Sterling, AK, Mark Aamodt of Kellogg, ID, and Nancy Wikes of Fountain Valley, CA; seven grandchildren, Chris Hudson, Angie Hudson, Kyle Hudson, Brad Talley, Duwain Aamodt, Crystal Cannady, and Keith Aamodt; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Glenda Gravelle of Post Falls, ID; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, 11:00 AM at American Lutheran Church, 15 E. Mullan Ave., Kellogg. Donations in Vonda’s memory may be made to the Shoshone Cancer Resource Center, PO Box 261, Kellogg, ID 83837.
