Theodore Turnbow

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather, Theodore “Ted” N. Turnbow, 85, of Spokane, Washington (formerly a long-time Silver Valley resident), passed away May 29, 2015 at the Touchmark South Hill of Spokane. He was born on August 13, 1929 in Kellogg, Idaho; Ted was the son of Winfred “Bud” and Lottie (Waltman) Turnbow.

Ted attended and graduated from the Kellogg High School in 1947. He married Dorothy Ellen McCoy on February 14, 1947 in St. Regis, Montana. Ted was a life-long resident of the Silver Valley, until moving to Post Falls, Idaho in 2010 and recently moving to Spokane in October of 2014.

Ted served as the maintenance superintendent at the Zinc Plant and Smelter of the Bunker Hill Mining Company for many years, until he retired in 1991.

Ted loved the Silver Valley community and the people who lived here. He was a beloved charter member of the Kellogg B.P.O.E. #1841 and a member of the Wallace Drum and Bugle Corp; he had served as chairman of the Central Shoshone County Water District and the Shoshone Fire District #2; he had also served as president of the Sunnyside PTA and was a member of the Bunker Hill Twenty Year Club. Ted was a natural athlete and excelled at everything; he was a member of the Kellogg Elks Dart League, a member of the Mens Bowling League and a member of the Kellogg Country Club and on his 70th birthday, he registered his only hole in one.

Ted’s greatest love was his family; he also loved and enjoyed elk hunting, golfing, gardening and the family river place. He was also known and famous for his fabulous Christmas decorations of his home and yard.

Ted is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years Dorothy Turnbow of Spokane, Washington; his daughter Pam McIntyre of Spokane, Washington; his son Terry (Cindy) Turnbow of Spokane Valley, Washington; his daughter-in-law Sherry Turnbow of Post Falls, Idaho; eight grandchildren Tommy Turnbow, Traci Turnbow Biotti, Ryan McIntyre, Brock McIntyre, Elroy Turnbow, Tiffany Martin, Alicia Staton and Aaron Mills; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, one son Jerry Turnbow, his son-in-law David McIntyre and nine siblings.

A Celebration of Ted’s Life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 1:00 P.M., at the American Lutheran Church of Kellogg, Idaho. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Kellogg Elks following services.
