Theodore Reynolds

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and brother, Theodore “Ted” Melvin Reynolds, 87, of Hayden, Idaho (formerly of the Silver Valley) passed away August 24, 2015 at the Hospice House of Coeur d’ Alene. He was born March 11, 1928 in Wardner, Idaho; Ted was the son of Robert Glen and Zelda M. (Upchurch) Reynolds.

Ted attended and graduated from the Harrison High School in 1946. During his high school years and before graduation, Ted proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Caliente at the end of WW II. Ted has lived in the Harrison and Silver Valley areas all of his life.

Ted married Piedad “Rosie” G. Rojas on December 25, 1947 in Black Lake, Idaho; they were married for 62 years. Rosie passed away on June 12, 2010.

Ted began his working career for the State of Idaho Highway Department. He then went to work for the Russell & Pugh Lumber Company of Harrison from 1949 - 1961. Ted then began his own real estate company, the Miners Hat Realty of Kellogg, which he owned and operated for many years until his retirement. After retirement, Ted remained a broker for this company.

Ted loved his community and was very involved. He was a member and past president of the Kellogg Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Kellogg Elks #1841, a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W., a board member of the South Fork Sewer District, a member of the Shoshone County Board Of Realtors, a member of the Idaho and National Board of Realtors. Ted was also a long-time member and past president of the Pinehurst Country Club. He had also served as one of the original committee members of the Harrison Old Time Picnic.

Ted loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, sports, gardening and singing.

Ted is survived by his three children Randy (Judy) Reynolds of Olympia, Washington, John (Tootie) Reynolds of Hayden, Idaho and Olivia (Ray) Simmons of Wichita Kansas; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; one sister Della Faye Bernhart of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Reynolds, his wife Rosie Reynolds and one grandson Jeff Reynolds.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Kellogg Elks following services; everyone is welcome.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Ted’s loving companion Joan Dorsett and her son Jacob, the Veterans Administration, Kootenai Health, the Kootenai Cancer Center, the Hospice House and Shoshone Funeral Services.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Harrison Old Time Picnic, c/o Don Heikkila, 12248 E. Ogara Rd. Harrison, Idaho 83833, or to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
