Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Svea E. Murray, 95, of Mullan, Idaho, passed away July 24, 2014 at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan of Silverton, Idaho. She was born September 22, 1918 in Butte, Montana; Svea was the daughter of Victor Edward and Maria (Mattson) Holm.
Svea attended and graduated from the Butte High School of Butte, Montana. She then furthered her education at the Montana State University in the nursing program. While attending the University, Svea was recruited and asked to serve as a registered nurse in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp during WW II; she served as a Second Lieutenant.
Svea married John Murray in 1942 in San Francisco, California. They moved to the Silver Valley in 1947.
Svea had worked for a short time at the Wallace Hospital. She then served as a homemaker, raising her family.
Svea was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Mullan. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, fishing, sewing, picking huckleberries and crossword puzzles.
Svea is survived by three children Mike (Carol) Murray of Mullan, Idaho; Jerry (Mary) Murray also of Mullan; and Vickie (Al) Erickson of Liberty Lake, Washington; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Lois Erickson of Mullan; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Svea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Murray who passed away in 1976; one daughter Marianne Standley, one brother William E. Erickson and one sister Ellen Vogel.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery of Mullan.
