Stanley “Stan” “Bud” Gerald Johnson, Jr. 80
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Stanley “Stan” “Bud” Gerald Johnson, Jr., 80, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away July 4, 2016 at the Hospice House of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He was born September 6, 1935 in Hailey, Idaho; Bud was the son of Stanley Gerald and Estell Dora (Sowers) Johnson, Sr.
Bud attended and graduated from the Hailey High School of Hailey, Idaho. He then attended the Idaho State University of Pocatello, Idaho for one year. Stan served in the 116th Calvary Brigade of the Idaho Army National Guard as a First Lieutenant; while serving, he rode in the inaugural parade for Lyndon B. Johnson.
Bud worked for the Highland Surprise Consolidated Company in Stanley, Idaho. He then joined his father’s construction company. In later years. Bud owned and operated a logging and firewood business along with his wife, Dorla.
Bud married MaRee Bowcutt on August 19, 1956; they had three daughters Deonne (Arthur) Moyers of Spokane, Washington, Denise (Jerry) Ellingson of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and Chris (Harry) Vlastelic of Kingston, Idaho; MaRee and Bud later divorced.
On June 14, 1979, he married Dorla Jean Hanson and her children Doug Hanson of the family home of Pinehurst, Idaho, Bernie (Diane) Hanson of Pinehurst, Idaho, Andy (Julie) Hanson of Pinehurst, Idaho, Steve (Brenda) Hanson of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and Marla (and son-in-law Dar Giese who passed away) of Spokane Valley, Washington. Stan had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which he enjoyed spending time with. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Betty Rainey, Clifford Johnson and Barbara Johnson, as well as, his second wife Donna Johnson.
Bud was a member of the Trapshooting Association, a member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Shoshone Indian Trap Club and a member of the Northwest Fishing Club.
Stan was an avid outdoorsman; he loved and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapshooting, gold prospecting and mining. He especially loved the family gatherings and barbequing for all of the get-togethers.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Chapel following services. Graveside Inurnment services will be held at a later date at the Hailey Cemetery of Hailey, Idaho.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 911 W. Fifth Ave., Spokane, WA. 99204.
