Sophie Edith Larson, 89, of Smelterville, ID, passed away on May 6, 2024 at the Life Care Center in Coeur d’Alene, ID. Sophie was born on May 15, 1934 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Helmer Engelstad and Pearl (Bower) Englestad.

Sophie relocated to the Silver Valley in 1949 from Calder, ID. She married Wesley Larson on March 30, 1951 in Kellogg, ID. Wesley passed away on August 3, 2000. She was a baker for many years at the Pik Kwik Bakery in Kellogg. She also worked at Shoshone Medical Center in their housekeeping department.   After her husbands’ passing, Sophie went to work with the Senior Companions in the Silver Valley.

Sophie was a talented seamstress and also enjoyed painting and arts and crafts. Being a baker for all those years, she enjoyed cooking and baking delicious goodies for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Wesley, Sophie is preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her two sons, Chester (Debra) Larson of Rathdrum, ID and Bruce (Vickie) Larson of Carlin, Nevada; three grandchildren, Kandi, Christie, and Dana; five great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

No services will be held and donations in Sophie’s memory can be made to the Shoshone Cancer Resource Center, PO Box 261, Kellogg, ID 83837.   She will be interred at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens near her husband and parents.
