Shirley Gray

February 1, 1931 — April 10, 2015


Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Shirley Maxcine Gray, of Wallace, Idaho, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2015 with her family by her side at Kootenai Hospital in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born February 1, 1931 in Mulberry, Kansas. Shirley was the daughter of Ora and Mareella (Erwin) Montee.

Shirley moved to Idaho at the age of three and lived in the Silver Valley for most of her life.

In 1976 Shirley was united in marriage to Darrel Gray in Wallace, Idaho.

Shirley was a dedicated homemaker and also worked as a waitress at times. She also worked in a ceramics shop in Smelterville for ten years. Shirley loved to crochet and embroider. She was an animal lover, she would take in poodles that would not have been cared for otherwise. These dogs were her pride and joy and at one time cared for five dogs.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 38 years Darrel Gray of Wallace, Idaho; three children, Freda (Kermit) Dee of Homer, Alaska, Michael Gray of Missoula, Montana and Debbie Gray and her partner Johnny Pratt of Elk, Washington; four sisters Marcella Zambaum of Utah, Annetta (Jim) Ballard of Lewiston Idaho, Lois Gilman of Kellogg, Idaho and Glenda Benjamin of Boise, Idaho; two brothers Robert (Donna) Montee of Coeur d’Alene and Kennth (Tina) Montee of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Merelene, a stepson David Gray and a grandson Brandon Gray.

Cremation will take place and a private family celebration of life will be held. The family suggests that donations may be made to Shoshone Pet Rescue P.O. Box 884 Kellogg, Idaho 83837.
