Shelton Teral Ellis, 71, of Pinehurst, ID, passed away peacefully at the home he built in Pinehurst on July 24, 2024. Shelton was born on October 19, 1952 in American Fork, Utah to Roy Shelton and Inez (Beck) Ellis.
He was raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah attending local schools. Teral was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Teral married Debra Jenson in Utah on May 27, 1977. They moved to north Idaho that same year and made their home in Dudley along the Coeur d’Alene River. Their son, Justin Ellis, was born in 1986. They later divorced but remained friends and continued to co-parent their son.
On June 20, 1997, Teral married Marlene Martin and gained two stepchildren, Brock Martin and Stephanie Martin whom he treated as his own.
He was an involved parent attending as many sporting events, dance and piano recitals as possible.
Teral worked for various construction companies and projects in the Silver Valley including the Wallace Overpass. He started working for himself when he formed Alpine Constructors in 1995. He was a craftsman. His work included foundations, flatwork, commercial construction and decorative concrete as can be seen in his own homes. He formed many friendships during that time.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing for friends and family, fishing for the big ones and gardening and growing heirloom tomatoes but his favorite activity was spending time with his grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene, at the family home; son, Justin Ellis (Stacey) of Cheney, WA; stepchildren, Brock Martin (Suzanne) of Petersburg, AK and Stephanie Martin of Pinehurst, ID; and one grandson, Jacob Karst. Teral is survived by his siblings, Laura (Keith) Nielson, Deanna (Steve) Leetham, Lyn Peery all of Pleasant Grove, Utah and Clay (Mindi) Ellis of West Valley City, Utah in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friends, Scott Nearing, Larry Burchum, Ken Nelson and Kyle Calabretta, whom he considered his red headed stepchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at the family home in Pinehurst on August 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM where a luncheon will be served.
Memories of Teral and messages of condolence may be shared with his family online at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services, Kellogg, is assisting the Ellis family with arrangements.
