Ruth Fay Sampont, 102
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister, Ruth Fay Sampont, 102, formerly of Osburn, Idaho, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus Christ on February 12, 2016 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg, Idaho. She was born August 26, 1913 in Whiteclay, Nebraska; Ruth was the second oldest of 12 children born to Phillip Osborne Shoop and Emma Iva (Jones) Shoop.
On June 10, 1931 Ruth was united in marriage to Elmer J. Sampont in Deadwood, South Dakota. In 1939 they moved to Duthe, Idaho where Elmer found work mining. Elmer and Ruth also lived in Wallace and Silverton and then Elmer built there family home in Osburn, Idaho.
Ruth loved sewing, gardening and caring for her family whom she loved. She also worked a short time at the Pik Kwik grocery in Kellogg. Ruth raised two children Darlene and Albert (Clark). Ruth also cared for her grandchildren through the generations. She was gentle, kind, understanding and faithful.
Ruth had a strong belief in her faith and was an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of Pines #705 and a member of the Lady Auxiliary VFW Post 1675.
Ruth is survived by her beloved children Darlene (George) Dancer of Osburn, Idaho and Albert C. Sampont of Boise, Idaho; her sister May Landrith; six Grandchildren; twelve Great-Grandchildren and five Great-Great Grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her adoring parents, husband Elmer J. Sampont and grandson Eugene Clark Dancer and ten of her siblings.
A Rosary service will be held on Saturday, February 20th 2016 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace, Idaho. Mass will be held following the Rosary starting at 10:00 A.M. with Father Jerome officiating. Following the Mass, fellowship will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall.
