Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Ruth Ann Allen, 79, of Kingston, Idaho, passed away February 16, 2015 at the family home of Kingston. She was born July 8, 1935 in Belcourt, North Dakota; Ruth was the daughter of Louis and Mary (Desjarlais) Brien.
Ruth attended Catholic Boarding School in North Dakota. After moving to the Silver Valley as a young girl, she finished her schooling in Kellogg.
Ruth married Gerald “Jerry” Allen on February 16, 1953 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
Ruth had served as a certified weigh master at the Bunker Hill Mining Company Smelter for many years, until her retirement. Ruth had also worked and catered many parties at the Kellogg Elks.
Ruth had served as a Girl Scout Leader for seven years. She was also a member and past president of the Kellogg Lady Elks and an avid supporter and volunteer for the Inland Northwest Blood Bank. Ruth and her husband Jerry were always avid supporters and worked many hours for the Kellogg Elks Lodge #1841; Ruth was honored with the Elk Of The Year award.
Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years Jerry Allen of the family home of Kingston; two children Jim Allen and his companion Shelly Burbank of Kingston; Wendy (Nelson) Castonguay of Pinehurst, Idaho; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother Elmer “Joe” Brien of Lakeview, Oregon; one sister Patty LaFountain of St. John, North Dakota; Ruth is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Karen Marie Allen, one sister Sylvia and one brother Gordon.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg with Father Marcos Sanchez officiating. A reception/luncheon will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall following services.
