Ronald Melvin Homuth, 79, of Wallace, Idaho, went to be with the Lord September 11, 2014 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg. He was born September 26, 1934 in Kensal, North Dakota; Ron was the son of Raymond “Bud” and Lovera (Arrowwood) Homuth.
Ron graduated from Jamestown High School of Jamestown, North Dakota in 1952. One of his first jobs was teaching at a country school; he had even taught his little sister. Ron decided teaching wasn’t what he wanted to do and went to work in road construction. He has always been a person who loved the outdoors and decided to move to Montana with his first wife and mother of his five children, Berniece. Ron worked in the Mines in Anaconda, Montana. He also worked as a farm hand to earn extra money. They lived in Montana for several years and later moved the family back to Jamestown, North Dakota. They lived in Jamestown for 8 years. Ron went back to driving truck for various trucking companies including Mayer Truck Line. He eventually bought a truck and was a self employed truck driver, traveling all over the United States. Ron went to work for the Helca Mining Company in 1980 as a miner; he retired in 2000. Ron’s greatest passion was fishing, nothing brought him closer to nature than that.
Ron was united in marriage to Phyllis Linville in 1980 in Wallace, Idaho, she preceded him in death in 1999. He was then fortunate to meet and marry Nancy Gallinger on March 26, 2000 in Wallace, Idaho.
Ron is survived by his wife Nancy Homuth of the family home of Wallace; eight children, Wade (Leslie) Homuth, Anita (Chris) Van Hal, Gail (Bob) Newland, Denise Fry, Nancy Rodriguez, Dean Gallinger, Don (Marianne) Gallinger and DeeAnn Barker. He is also survived by three siblings Kathleen Redinger, Eileen (Mike) Brudwick and Kerry Homuth. Ron is survived by seventeen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Viola, Kenneth, Gary and Robert and son David Gallinger Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Wallace, Idaho with Pastor Bill Schillereff officiating. A reception/luncheon will be held in the basement of the church following services. Interment will take place at the Shoshone Memorial Gardens of Pinehurst at 2:00 P.M.
Ron was so loved by his family and will be missed by many.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
