Beloved father, grandfather and brother, Ronald “Ron” Eugene Holling, Sr., 73, of Woodland Park-Wallace, Idaho, passed away May 12, 2014 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg. He was born June 27, 1940 in Jameson Township, Minnesota; Ron was the son of Heinie and Zetta Ruth (Spurgeon) Holling.
Ron served in the U.S. Marines. He moved to the Silver Valley in 1961 from California. Ron married Marianne Strope in August of 1963 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; Marianne passed away on December 8, 2010.
Ron had first worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He then served as a diamond driller for a mine in Republic, Washington. Ron then served as a hard rock miner for various mines throughout the Silver Valley.
Ron was a member of the Osburn V.F.W. #1675. He loved and enjoyed his family, bingo, four-wheeling and walking his beloved dog Mandy.
Ron is survived by his three children Jill Ross of Hayden, Idaho, Ronald J. (Kerri) Holling of Wallace, Idaho and Matthew Holling of San Diego, California; three grandchildren Amanda Ross of Kellogg, Idaho, Joshua Ross of Kellogg and Chandler Holling of Wallace; two sisters Dova Shilling of North Bend, Oregon and Darlene Prowell also of North Bend; two brothers Robert Holling of North Bend, Oregon and Glen Clymer of Grand Junction, Colorado; he is also survived by his beloved dog Mandy and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marianne, one brother Jimmy Clymer and one sister Sophia Mundt.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at the Osburn Christian Center of Osburn with Pastor Darryl Therrian officiating. A potluck reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the church following services.
