Ronald Royce Flory, 73, of Smelterville, Idaho, passed away January 10, 2017 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho. He was born August 25, 1943 at the Wardner Hospital in Kellogg, Idaho; Ronald was the son of Richard and Jenny Belle (McClelland) Flory.
Ronald lived in the Silver Valley all of his life, mostly in Smelterville and Kellogg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In 1970 Ronald married Myrna Keene and together they had two children, Paul and Misty. They later divorced but remained good friends. He married Shirlene Lawhorn in 2001.
Ronald worked as a miner his entire career. He worked for the Sunshine, Galena, and Bunker Hill Mines.
Ronald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He volunteered for the Senior Companion Program. He enjoyed playing darts, camping, boating and fishing.
Ronald is survived by his two children Paul Flory of Smelterville, Idaho and Misty Dawn (Brad) Ketola of Reed Point, Montana; his brother Dean (Pam) Flory of Wenatchee, Washington; his sisters Juanita (Bill) Wyrick of Coulee Dam, Washington and Karen Burrows; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob Flory; his sister Diane Traxtle; his first wife, Myrna in 2014 and his second wife, Shirlene in 2013.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017, 11:00AM at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel, Kellogg, Idaho. A gathering of family and friends will follow the funeral at Johnny’s Bar in Smelterville. Interment will be held at Shoshone Memorial Gardens, Pinehurst, Idaho.
