Robert “Bob” Carey LaBau, 71
Robert “Bob” Carey LaBau, 71, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away December 28, 2018, at Pacifica Pinehurst. He was born May 4, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri; Bob was the son of Lowell and Rose (LaPorte) La Bau.
Bob attended and graduated from the Lead High School of Lead, South Dakota in 1965. He then attended the Black Hills State College of Spearfish, South Dakota.
Bob moved to the Silver Valley in the early 1970’s from South Dakota.
Bob was a school teacher and had taught seventh grade science at the Silver Hills Middle School of Osburn for a number of years; he then taught at the Wallace High School; he retired in 2005. Bob had also worked for the U.S. Forest Service during the Summer months for twenty-five plus years.
Bob was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob loved and enjoyed his family and the outdoors- fishing, hunting, gathering wood, four-wheeling, hiking and walking. He also loved old cars and especially his 1955 Chevy pickup.
Bob is survived by his three sons Steve and Heather LaBau of Eagle, Idaho, David and Ashley LaBau of Post Falls, Idaho and Michael and Jenn LaBau of Hayden, Idaho; five grandchildren Mackenzie, Bridger, Braden, Avery and Cece; one brother Keith LaBau of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; two sisters Sandy Grosek of Columbus, Montana and Twila Eggers of Brookings, South Dakota; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace with Father Jerome Montez serving as celebrant. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Wallace Elks following services; everyone is welcome.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the East Shoshone Quick Response Unit, P.O. Box 723 Osburn, Idaho 83849.
