Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Robert “Bob” William Monteith, 80, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away November 18, 2014 at the family home of Cataldo. He was born April 25, 1934 in Spokane, Washington; Bob was the son of Robert Harrison and Miriam (Schultz) Monteith.
Bob and his family moved to Cataldo in 1941 from Spokane. He attended the Canyon Elementary School and then the Rose Lake High School, graduating in 1952. Bob then attended the North Idaho Junior College of Coeur d’ Alene studying mechanical engineering.
Bob married Joanne Bickerstaff on July 1, 1956 in Yakima, Washington.
Bob had first worked at the Canyon Garage as an auto mechanic. He then started his own business, Bob’s Auto Repair, of which he owned and operated for fifty-seven years. Bob had also worked for Sverdsten Logging.
Bob was a member of the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg, a member and an EMT for the Rose Lake QRU, a volunteer fire fighter and fire commissioner for Shoshone County Fire District 2, a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association- Bob was a private pilot for many years.
Bob loved and enjoyed his family, mechanics, farming, fire fighting and especially enjoyed serving as an EMT. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, scuba diving, snowmobiling and being a musician. Bob enjoyed carpentry work and had built the family home; he also broke and trained horses.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years Joanne Monteith of the family home of Cataldo; three children Cheryl (Doug) Stueckle of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Richard (Mimi) Monteith of Spokane Valley, Washington and Linda Stockton of Puyallup, Washington; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister Barbara (Don) Spellman of Redding, California; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Susan Monteith and one sister Beverly Brumfield.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Coeur d’ Alene Bible Church, 5350 N. 4th Street, Coeur d’ Alene with Rev. David Langer officiating.
