Ricky Ray Newell (Chubba), 60
Ricky Ray Newell aka Chubba, 60, of Page, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2021 at Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg. He was born April 12, 1961 in Grants, New Mexico. Ricky was the son of Charles and Aloma (Valerio) Newell, and biological father Odie Murrietta.
Ricky was a lifelong Silver Valley resident. He attended and graduated from Mullan High School, Class of 1979. After graduation Ricky spent time working as a Life Guard and an EMT for his hometown of Mullan. His senior year of high school he began his lifelong career as a hard rock miner, going to school in the day and working underground at night. Over the years he worked in several states, at numerous mines including the Star, Galena, Asarco and lastly the Lucky Friday.
Ricky had a love for the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and four-wheeling with his family and friends. Ricky will be remembered for having a wonderful sense of humor and for all the love that he shared with his family and friends.
Ricky met Debi Millett in 2012 and quickly fell in love. Ricky and Debi were united in marriage on February 16, 2016 in Wallace.
Ricky is survived by his beloved wife Debi Newell; his daughter Miranda Newell; Step daughter Brandi (Dustin) Howe; four grandchildren Floyd, Jazzmyn, Maddi and Abbi. Ricky is also survived by four siblings Eddie Newell, Rusan (Mike) Walsh, Rose (Jesus) Murrietta-Alvarado, Brian Murrietta and numerous nieces and nephews. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Aloma Newell, biological father Odie Murrietta and siblings Abel Murrietta and Verle Newell.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 8th 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Silver Valley Worship Center of Smelterville, Idaho. A gathering of friends and family will take place following the Service at the Wallace, Elks.
We all know Chubba loved his Seahawks so please feel free to wear your favorite football gear, or camo.
