Richard Blacketer, 75
Richard Blacketer, 75, of Mullan, Idaho, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on June 1, 2016 at the family home of Mullan. He was born September 15, 1940 in Park County, Indiana; Richard was the son of David and Mildred (Clark) Blacketer.
In his younger years, Richard attended schools in Mullan, Idaho. The family then moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming, where Richard graduated from the Thermopolis High School in 1958. He returned to the Silver Valley in 1959. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
Richard married Sharon Wickam on November 6, 1965, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace.
Richard was an electrician at the Sunshine Mining Company for thirty-one years. He then served as an electrician for Quality Electric of Boise, Idaho for six years.
Richard was a member of the IBEW Union, a member of the Mens’ Bowling league of Mullan and a member of the Snowmobile Club.
Richard loved and enjoyed his family, hunting, camping, golfing and wood-cutting.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years Sharon Blacketer of the family home of Mullan; two children Douglas (Heather) Blacketer of Pullman, Washington, Susan (Stephen) Dankert of Pewaukee, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren Trysten, Kameryn, Maryann, Emmally, Graclyn, Cassidy and Sydney; one great-grandson Ryder; one brother Robert (Bernadine) Blacketer of Thermopolis, Wyoming; two sisters Debra (Everett) Morris of Mullan, Idaho and Patty (Rick) Decker of Mullan, Idaho; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jackie Lee Blacketer and one sister Jacqueline Rose Archer.
A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at the Morning Club of Mullan with Pastor Art Fleming officiating. A reception will be held following services also at the Morning Club.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Morning Club, c/o City of Mullan, P.O. Box 475, Mullan, Idaho 83846; or to the Mullan Museum, c/o Jim Hendryx, P.O. Box 101, Mullan, Idaho 83846 or to the Mullan Volunteer Fire Department.
