Raymond Radford

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Raymond “Papa” Murdoch Radford, 88, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away October 4, 2014 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg. He was born December 24, 1925 in Caldwell, Idaho; Murdoch was the son of George Raymond and Adele (Sharkey) Radford.

Murdoch attended and graduated from the St. Maries High School of St. Maries, Idaho in 1944. He then served our country in the U.S. Army Air Force, as a B17 bomber ball turet gunner, during WW II. After serving, Murdoch attended and graduated from the University Of Idaho majoring in business and economics and minoring in agriculture; while attending the University, he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Murdoch married his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Donna S. “Donnie” Scrivner on June 11, 1953 in Nampa, Idaho. Murdoch, Donnie and family moved to the Silver Valley in 1964 from St. Maries, Idaho.

Murdoch owned and operated the Kellogg Transfer, Inc. from 1964-1998; he also owned and operated Mine Timbers, Inc. and Radford Equipment.

Murdoch had a generous heart and served as an Eagle Scout, a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the St. Maries Elks Lodge, a member of the Kellogg Gyro’s and the Pinehurst Golf Club. While residing in St. Maries, Murdoch was a member and served on the building committee of the Community Presbyterian Church.

Murdoch loved and enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, golfing and was an avid gardener specializing in tomatoes; he was also an avid University Of Idaho Vandal booster.

Murdoch is survived by his wife Donnie Radford of the family home of Pinehurst; three children Lynn (John) Burns of Pullman, Washington, Stacie (Cheryl) Hartley of Wenatchee, Washington and Murray (Bea) Radford of Enaville, Idaho; six granddaughters Amanda Burns Lisk, Alisa Burns Melior, Megan Pickard, Heather Hoiland, Haley Hoiland and Erin Radford; four great-grandchildren Aiden and Alec Lisk, Layla and Sawyer Pickard; a cousin Norman Radford of Osburn; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Murdoch was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Gordon Radford who was killed in WW II.

A Celebration of Murdoch’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel with Rev. Art Fleming officiating. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Kellogg Elks following services.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835.
