Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Orinlee “Elkie” Hammeren, 62, of Prichard, Idaho, passed away October 15, 2013 at the family home of Prichard. He was born July 7, 1951 at Newport, Washington; Orin was the son of John Edwin and Olga Minnie (Evenson) Hammeren.
Orin grew up in Priest River, Idaho and moved to Othello, Washington in 1975, where he met and married Patricia (Davidson) DenAdel on June 11, 1983 at Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. The lived in Othello with their two children Greg and Stacie. In 1994 they moved to the Silver Valley.
Orin served as a welder and had worked at the Sargeant Manufacturing of Othello, Washington and lastly at Columbia Steel of Moses Lake, Washington, where he was injured.
Orin was a member of the Eagles Lodge of Othello; and a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church of Rose Lake, where he had many brothers and sisters in Christ. He was instrumental in helping to build the new Crossroads Baptist Church. Those who knew Orin knew of his unique, knee slapping sense of humor, jokes and contagious laughter; sometimes laughing so hard himself, he could not get to the punch line. You’ve never heard someone laugh so hard at an M&M commercial!!! He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, gathering wood or just spending time there. Orin will be remembered for his warm, compassionate heart and grizzly bear hugs that showed just how much he loved. He was a great Christian man of never wavering faith.
Orin is survived by his beloved wife Patti Hammeren of the family home of Prichard; his daughter-in-heart Vaughn Pegram of Othello, Washington; his granddaughter Portia Nicholson and great-grandson Jaxson Nicholson both of Othello, Washington; two brothers Duane of Smelterville, Idaho and Clifford of Seelyville, Indiana; one sister Marie Stein of Post Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and countless family of the heart. Orin was preceded in death by his parents John and Minnie, his step-children Stacie and Gregory DenAdel; infant brothers Oscar and Paul; brothers Gordon and Ed and his sister Joan.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Crossroads Baptist Church of Rose Lake.
