Millicent Gill

December 7, 1924 — August 16, 2014

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Millicent “Mille” Ann Gill, 89, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away August 16, 2014 at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan of Silverton. She was born December 7, 1924 to Fritz and Freda (Klietho) Gustafson in Bessemer, Michigan. Millie was one of five children; she had a brother William (Buddy) and three sisters Dorothy, Sally and Gertrude, all of whom preceded her in death.

Millie attended and graduated from the Wakefield High School of Wakefield, Michigan in 1942. She then went to work for a manufacturing company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1945, Millie enlisted in the Waves, a branch of the U.S. Navy; she was honorably discharged after her service to our country.

Millie met Warren Gill, a marine and they were married on October 1, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. They returned to Michigan and resided in Ramsey until the early 60’s. The prospect of a job in the silver mines brought them to the Silver Valley and to Mullan, where she raised her family and lived until she moved into a care facility.

Millie was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, flower gardening and sewing. She loved most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Millie made wedding and birthday cakes from her home for many years. She also made the best pasties and often helped the Mullan Lutheran Ladies with their annual pasty sale.

In past years, Millie was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles and the Hyacinth Rebekah Lodge. While raising her children, she was also involved with the Boy Scouts and Camp Fire organizations.

Mille is survived by one son Jon (Annie) Gill of Spokane, Washington; three daughters Missy Valley of Smelterville, Idaho, Merri (Clint) Baskett of Mullan, Idaho; and Jenni (Dennis) Cronk of Paoli, Indiana; she is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Warren “Jack” Gill, two sons Danny and David and a great-granddaughter Justine Sloan.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at the Silver Valley Worship Center of Smelterville with Pastor Corey Berti officiating. A reception/luncheon will be held at the Church Fellowship Hall following services.

The family would like to thank the staff and care providers at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan for the many years they have shown exceptional care and compassion for their mother.
