Michael T. Holzer (Mike), 60, of Kellogg, Idaho passed away on December 12, 2016 at his home in Kellogg.  Mike was born on July 8, 1956 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Thomas (Tom) and Rose Mary (Kiefer) Holzer.

Mike had lived in Kellogg all but 2 months of his life, attending St. Rita’s school through his elementary years, and graduating from Kellogg High School with the class of 1975.

Before graduating High School he began working for the Bunker Hill Company, where he worked until the company shut down, he then went to work for the Sunshine Mining Company. He also worked briefly for the U.S. Forest Service and Dave Smith Motors until he became employed with the Lucky Friday Mine where he worked until the time of his death.

When Mike wasn’t working, he looked forward to watching sports, where he was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, and especially the Gonzaga men’s basketball. He also enjoyed playing darts, and venturing out and meeting up with many of the friends he had throughout the Silver Valley.

Mike is survived by his mother, Rose Holzer of Kellogg; his sister Donna Holzer of Spokane Valley, Washington and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Holzer, and his brothers Daniel and Richard (Rick) Holzer, as well as his grandparents Rochus and Barbara Holzer and Peter and Amelia Kiefer.

A service for Mike will be held at a later time.

Donations can be made to the Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia, 22312, in memory of Mike.
