Mary “Sharon” Connors, 76
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Mary “Sharon” Connors, 76, of Salem, Oregon (formerly of the Silver Valley), passed away July 20, 2016 at the Salem Hospital of Salem, Oregon. She was born September 28, 1939 in Wallace, Idaho; Sharon was the daughter of Quintin and Bernice (Jordan) Sampont.
Sharon had resided in the Silver Valley most of her life, until moving to Salem, Oregon eight years ago, to be near her daughters. She had attended the Our Lady of Lourdes Academy of Wallace; Sharon furthered her education and received her LPN License.
Sharon married Pat R. Connors on July 7, 1971 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Pat passed away on April 1, 1993.
Sharon had first worked for the Kellogg Medical Clinic; she then worked for Dr Keith Dahlberg and the East Shoshone Hospital of Silverton. Sharon had lastly worked as the Social Service Director for Shoshone County for thirty plus years; she then retired.
Sharon was very active within her community; she served on the Board of Directors for the Panhandle Health District, she served on the Board for the Shoshone County Food Bank, and she was instrumental and one of the founding members of the Shoshone Free Clinic. Sharon was also a member of the Association of Idaho Counties and had served as president of the AIC Welfare Directors. She had also served on the Regional Mental Health Advisory Board. Sharon had also served as a precinct committee woman for the Shoshone Democratic Central Committee.
Sharon loved and enjoyed her family, collecting antiques, gardening and entertaining family and friends. She was also an avid reader.
Sharon is survived by four children Debbie Corona of Salem, Oregon, Chris (Valerie) Mohr of Sekiu, Washington, Pete Mohr of Port Angeles, Washington and Janice (Luis) Coria of Salem, Oregon; two step-children Julie and Patty; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one sister Janet (Dale) Lucas of Post Falls, Idaho; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pat Connors, one sister Margo Wilks, two step-sons Mike and Robert Connors and one grandson Nacho Corona.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday August 20, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg with Father Tim Ritchey officiating. A reception/luncheon will be held at the St. Rita’s Catholic Fellowship Hall of Kellogg following graveside services; everyone is welcome.
