Mary Winkler

July 13, 1934 — December 31, 2015

Mary Winkler was born July 13, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia to Bessie and Samuel Moore.  She was the youngest of four children.  Mary went to live with her grandmother in Kansas City.

Mary was working as a Car Hop, when she met Harry Winkler.  In less than two weeks, while on a third date, she married him and moved to Idaho.  Mary was happily married almost sixty years.  She was a helpmate to Harry, working with him in the woods for thirty-five years.  Mary was a “Lady Logger” operating a jammer.

Mary enjoyed writing poetry and stories; she started a writers group of others whom also enjoyed writing.  She authored three books.  Mary was always gentle, kind, and a positive force; she was always happy and loved her friends, family and Harry.  Mary was known as “Baby Face” and Harry as “Twinkle Toes” at the Kellogg Senior Center.

Mary and Harry had three children Sandra, Terrie and Harry Louis.  Mary has twelve grandchildren Jennifer, Serenity, Daniel, Elli, Jesse, Benjamin, Daisy, Ricky, Betsy, Ean, Anne and Emily.  She has twelve plus great-grandchildren.  Mary is also survived by a most wonderful son-in-law Dean Clark; two special sister-in-laws Madge and Florence; a brother-in-law Jimmy and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mary was on Vacation in Arizona, when she had a heart attack.  She was brave and strong, but just couldn’t recover from the complications of surgery.  The Lord called her home on December 31, 2015; she is at rest now beside Harry, family and friends in the mountains of “Her” Idaho.

Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg, Idaho.  A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held and announced in the Spring.

SHOSHONE FUNERAL SERVICES KELLOGG, IDAHO is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
