Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Martin Kulju, 83, of Kellogg, Idaho passed away February 24, 2015 at the family home of Moon Gulch- Kellogg. He was born December 5, 1931 in Rock, Michigan; Martin was the son of John Henry and Fanny (Krankkola) Kulju.
Martin attended and graduated from High School in Rock, Michigan. He had also attended the Kinman Business College of Spokane, Washington. Martin served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Martin married Donna Martin on December 21, 1957 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Martin moved to the Silver Valley in 1959 from Spokane, Washington.
Martin served as a weigh master, as well as, a shift boss for the Bunker Hill Mining Company Smelter.
Martin was a member of the Osburn V.F.W. #1675. He loved and enjoyed his family, traveling, wood-working and attending senior dances.
Martin is survived by three children DeEtte (Vern) Haralson of Rose Lake, Idaho; Dean (Lourdes) Kulju of Long Beach, California; and Roxanna Kulju of Longmont, Colorado; three grandchildren Joshua (Jamie) Haralson, Miranda Haralson and Andres Kulju; two great-grandchildren Richard and Sierra Haralson; two brothers Ted and Onni Kulju both of Washington; one sister Lillian Freeman of Spokane, Washington; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna in 2011 and five brothers Arne, Roy, Louie, George and Eugene Kulju.
Cremation will be held and Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Kellogg Senior Center following services; this will be potluck and everyone is welcome.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Kellogg High School Athletic Department, 2 Jacobs Gulch Kellogg, Idaho 83837.
