Martha Marie Carver of Pinehurst, Idaho passed away peacefully from heart disease on October 29, 2021 at home under the care of Hospice and her loving family.
She was the youngest of eight siblings. She was born in Welch, West Virginia on March 22nd, 1927. Her father, Mike Facello migrated from Genoa, Italy and was a stone mason. In fact much of his stonework is still in use today. Marie’s mother, Armeady (Blevins) Facello ran a boarding house where she met and married Mike.
Marie grew up on the farm during the depression era which was fortunate because they were able to raise much of their food and be self-sufficient during those dire times.
In her high school years, she met the love of her life, Charles Carver. They were married in 1949 and celebrated forty nine years of marriage before Charles death in 1998.
Charles worked for the railroad as a fireman. Later when diesel fuel replaced coal, the firemen positions were no longer needed by the railroad so Marie and Charles headed west to Idaho in the late fifties.
Although Marie was busy raising six children she gained employment at the US Post Office initially as the cleaning lady. Later she started working as a postal clerk and in 1972 she became Postmaster and retained that position until 1994. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service a total of thirty five years.
Marie loved to travel especially trips on various cruises; all types of freshwater and ocean fishing; camping and occasional trips to Las Vegas. She was very family oriented and always enjoyed family gatherings.
In her younger years, Marie was very active in the community including serving on the Pinehurst Planning and Zoning Commission for numerous years and also helping out monthly with the Habitat for Humanity newsletters. She was also an active member of the Mountain View Congregational Church.
Marie is survived by her children Tom (Peggy) Carver – St. Maries, ID; Gary (Connie) Carver – Kettle Falls, WA; Steve (Sandy) Carver – Rathdrum, ID; Marcy (Kelly) Carlson – Boise, ID and Bobby Jo Carver – Rose Lake, ID. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Mike and Armeady Facello; husband Charles; son Barry; siblings Arvil; Stella; Laura; Ernest; Elizabeth; Rebecca (Douge) and half-brother, Eddie.
A celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at the Mountain View Congregational Church in Kellogg with a social gathering following the service. Interment will be at the family plot at the Nine Mile Cemetery in Wallace, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Mountain View Congregational Church in Kellogg or the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
