Marion Mcgillivray

March 4, 1936 — February 28, 2023

Marion McGillivray of Kingston, ID passed away quietly on February 28, 2023 with family by her side.  At the time she was at Mountain Valley of Cascadia in Kellogg, ID

She was born March 4, 1936 in Watertown, South Dakota to Martin and Mabel (Olson) Krull.  She was the youngest of the “Krull” sisters.  The family left South Dakota when she was barely a year old and after a few attempts, finally made their home on the West Fork of Pine Creek.

Marion grew up loving animals, especially banty chickens and horses; and she was an avid horseback rider. Until she had a horse of her own, she would ask neighbors to ride theirs.  Often, she was told that if she could catch and get on the horse, she could ride it – she did.  This love for animals was passed on to her daughters, though only one was "horse crazy".

She married her friend and the love of her life, Charles McGillivray in 1956.  Together, they raised their two daughters at their home in French Gulch.  In addition to being a homemaker, Marion grew vegetables, flowers and helped Charlie with the outside chores.  Later in life she found enjoyment in jigsaw puzzles and at a smaller scale, growing flower and cherry tomatoes.   She also cared for and watched quail, hummingbirds and her cat “Lucy”.  Her love of animals did not extend to wild turkeys.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her sisters, Wealthea Groth and Donna Van Vleet.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Wolf of Port Angeles, WA , Jackie McGillivray and son-in-law Michael Leverick of Kingston, ID;  and several nieces, nephews.
