Lynn Meredith Newbigging, 73, of Smelterville, Idaho, passed away September 1, 2016 at her home in Smelterville. She was born June 15, 1943 in Kellogg, Idaho; Lynn was the daughter of William and Geraldine (Johnston) Hogan.
Lynn grew up in the Silver Valley and graduated from Kellogg High School. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in History from Fort Wright College in Spokane. Lynn worked for the Department of Interior as a Guidance Counselor and Guardian ad Litem. She also worked as a Disaster Assistance worker for FEMA in Florida and Texas and was a volunteer at a battered women’s shelter. Lynn spent many years living in Spokane and Moses Lake and returned to the Silver Valley ten years ago.
Lynn was an avid reader and a wonderful cook; she enjoyed sewing and volunteering to help others. Lynn was a loving and devoted mother to her daughters and a hard worker.
Lynn is survived by her daughters Elise (Brian) McMahon of Midleton, Ireland and Jenny Moberg of Olympia, Washington; her grandchildren, Andrew, Alyson, Ethan, Shane and Kate McMahon of Midleton, Ireland and Mikey Rice of Olympia, Washington and her sister Kathleen Hogan of Pocatello, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Aidan.
Cremation has taken place and there are no local services planned at this time.
