Lovina Marie (Sherman) Skantel, 88, of Mullan, Idaho passed away December 24, 2024 in Chandler, Arizona surrounded by her family. She was born July 29, 1936 in Frenchtown, MT to Roma and Elmer Sherman.
Lovina attended Frenchtown and Wallace schools and after high school became a dental assistant in Monterey, California. She married Terry Skantel on April 15, 1966 and together they raised three sons, Lonnie, Terry and Tracy. Lovina dearly loved all her family and friends. She shared a life with her husband, Terry, for 55 years (who passed in 2021) and their sons enjoying their sports and the outdoors throughout the years in their cabin on the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River and camping. She was a loving and dedicated wife and partner and with her husband, Terry, and enjoyed helping their friends and community. In recent years, Lovina wintered in Florence, AZ with her sister, Kim Berkey .enjoying the climate, exploring new sights and meeting new friends. Her vibrant spirit and incandescent smile will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sisters, Myrna (Tom) Olson of Spokane, Washington and Kim Berkey of Wallace, Idaho; one brother, Allen (Sonny) Sherman of Spokane, Washington; and her sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Lisa of Vancouver, WA, Terry and Geri of Haugen, MT, Tracy and Kelley of St. Regis, MT; grandchildren, Sam Skantel, Jack and Chase Skantel, Drew and Mary Suckow( and great grandson, Loch), Nate Suckow, Jeremy Skantel, Heather Skantel, and Allison and Ari Kaufman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11th at the Morning Club of Mullan at 2:00 pm.
