Loran Meligan

September 3, 1933 — December 13, 2015


Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Loran Lee Meligan, 82, of Pinehurst, Idaho passed away December 13, 2015 at the Kindred Nursing Home and Rehabilitation-Mountain Valley in Kellogg, Idaho. Loran was born September 3, 1933 in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota; He was the son of Homer and Burnice (Jones) Meligan.

Loran moved to Idaho with his family in 1948. He attended the Cataldo school and was a part of the last graduating class before the school closed.

Loran went to work at the Page and Galena Mines, where he worked in the Mill. He retired from ASARCO after 39 years of service.

On March 29th 1963, Loran was united in marriage to Mary Vanvranken in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

In Loran’s free time, he enjoyed going hiking and socializing with friends. Loran had a deep interest in windmills; He studied how they worked and built some windmills of his own. Loran loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Loran was a very active member of the Kingdom Hall-Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Loran is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Mary of Pinehurst, Idaho; four children Daniel (Renee) Thompson of Osburn, Idaho, Loretta (Dale) Vandeventer of Osburn, Idaho, Ron Meligan of Caldwell, Idaho, Dale (Lynell) Meligan of Silverton, Idaho and David (Cynthia) Meligan of Pinehurst, Idaho; siblings Lois Price of Corvallis, Oregon and Glen (Zelda) Meligan of Kingston, Idaho. Loran is also survived by five granddaughters Mandy, Reyna, Karli, Katie and Vanessa; three great-granddaughters Madison, Breanna and Nicole and numerous nieces and nephews. Loran was preceded in death by his parents and six of his siblings.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 19th 2015 at 3:00P.M. at the Kingdom Hall-Jehovah’s Witness in Pinehurst, Idaho with Brian Youngwirth Officiating. Following the services a reception with refreshments will be held at the Kellogg Senior Center.
