Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother-in-law, son-in-law and friend, Leslie “Frank” Sproul, 79, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away March 13, 2015 at Hospice House of Coeur d’Alene with his family by his side. He was born August 26, 1935 in Boise, Idaho; Frank was the son of Leslie and Helen (McCartney) Sproul.
Frank grew up and attended school in California and Boise. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy he served as a gunners mate on the U.S.S. Yorktown during the Korean war. When Frank was discharged he worked for a time at a radar site in the Mojave Desert in California. He then decided he wanted to go back to school and attended one year of junior college in Boise. Frank also worked for a time as a carpet layer; later he re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Upon discharge from the Air Force he attended Diesel Mechanic School.
Frank married Marlene (Schilter) Peyer July 2, 1974 in Coeur d’Alene; they made their home in Pinehurst. Frank worked for the Bunker Hill Company as a mechanic.
Frank’s passion in life was his family, going to the family lake place at Black Lake and taking trips in their motor home.
Frank is survived by his wife Marlene of the family home in Pinehurst; one son Steve (Susan) of Baker, Florida; one daughter Ladina (Chancey) of Quartzite, Arizona; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Birdine Schilter of Pinehurst; brother-in-law Glen (Wanda) Schilter of Wyoming. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Darrel; two sons Larry and Terry; and his father-in-law Glen.
The family would like to thank Hospice of North Idaho for their excellent care and compassion, especially Dr. Anker, Lisa and Cindy. They would also like to express thanks to the staff of Shoshone Funeral Service.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, 10-12 at the Kellogg Chapel, Kellogg. A graveside service will be 1:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg followed by a gathering of family and friends with refreshments at the Kellogg Chapel.
