Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, Leif “Merrill” Field of Osburn, Idaho passed away on January 11, 2016 at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. He was born on April 6, 1928 in Colton, Washington; Merrill was the son of Leif and Neva (Nelson) Field.
Merrill was the Owner/Operator for North Idaho Sales, Inc. He was united in marriage to Dolores Smith on November 5, 1949 in Lewiston, Idaho.
Merrill was a member of the Wallace Elks. He was a former member of the Gyro Club.
Merrill was always willing to help the City of Wallace with snow removal and was awarded the Wallace Elks citizen of the year 1987-1988.
He enjoyed fishing, RV ing, hill climbing in the jeep with family and friends, old bottle digging, huckleberry picking, water skiing and boating. Merrill especially loved spending time with his family.
Merrill is survived of his beloved wife of over 66 years, Dolores of the family home in Osburn; his three children, daughters Connie (Ward) Lister of Wallace and Vickie Field of Osburn and son David Field of Missoula, Montana; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Merrill on Friday, January 15, 2016 1:00P.M. at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Wallace with Pastor Art Fleming officiating. A reception for friends and family will be held at the Wallace Elks following services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Merrill’s honor to the Hospice House, 2290 W. Prairie Avenue, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83815.
