Lance Author Stanley 63, son, brother,  father, grandfather, and uncle, passed away peacefully Thursday morning surrounded by his family after a two year courageous battle with COPD.  Lance was the well known owner/operator of the Brooks Hotel/Restaurant/Lounge in Wallace for the last two decades.  He has been a long time member of the Wallace Elks, Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star and an active officer of the Shoshone Masonic Lodge in Wallace.  Lance was most known for his love of his daughter Rachel and grand daughter, Emily Nelson, and his support for the Wallace High School girls athletic program, never missing any activity Emily participated in.

For the last several years Lance would spend every opportunity he had at his RV on the St. Joe River.   Lance was loved in the community for the kindness and generosity he showed to those around him.

Lance was the youngest of seven children of Arline and Roger Stanley and was lovingly referred to as the “baby” of the six brothers and one sister. He is survived by his daughters, Rachel of  Silverton, Leah Stanley Capparelli and Jill Saucedo, both of Willsonville, Oregon; grandchildren, Emily Nelson of Silverton, Payton, Desmond, Cruz, Allaniz and Kian of Willsonville, Or,  his mother Arline ,four Stanley brothers, Robin, Bill and Gary all local area, and Doug, Tacoma, Wa.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Roger Stanley, older brother Steve Stanley, and older sister Sheila McIntyre.

The family offers a special thanks to Dr. Branz and his staff, Tony and JoAnna Lansdale and the current and past employees at the Brooks, Joanne Williams, and his many other friends for all the support and compassion over the past two years.

A gathering for family and friend will be held at the Brooks on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The family requests memorials or donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 911 W 5th Ave, Spokane 99204, Silver Valley Senior Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 887, Osburn, or the charity of choice.
