Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister-in-law, June Marilyn (Smith) Bouton, 83, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away April 17, 2015 at the Hospice House of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She was born April 21, 1931 in Spokane, Washington. Shortly thereafter, June moved to Eagle, Idaho, where she lived with her parents, Ernest and Minnie Smith and her two step brothers, Everett (Bud) and Ronald Smith. She remained in Eagle until 1941, attending the one room Eagle School until moving to Osburn, Idaho. June finished grade school in Osburn; Junior High and High School in Wallace, Idaho, graduating in 1948. She attended the Montana State University in Missoula, Montana graduating in 1951 earning a BA in business and also a teaching certificate. While attending the University, she was a member of the Business Honorary, active in athletics earning her “M” Letter and served as president of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
June married Robert J. Bouton on August 5, 1951 in the Methodist Church of Wallace. They moved to San Francisco, California, while Bob served in the U.S. Army stationed at the Persidio. June and Bob returned to Osburn and worked at the Osburn Supply Company, eventually purchasing the business in 1973; they retired in 1993.
June participated in a bowling league for many years, as well as the Silver Valley Squares dance club. She was extremely proud of her Camp Fire Girls that she led all the way from second grade until they received the Wohelo Medallion, Camp Fire’s highest award, as seniors. June was also active in the Osburn PTA, serving as president and had also received a life-time award working with the Community Concert Association for many years. June also enjoyed sewing, gardening, dancing and traveling.
June is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Bob Bouton of the family home of Osburn; her son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Karen Bouton of Kent Washington; her sister-in-law Bertha Smith of Superior, Montana; her brother-in-law Donald Patt of San Diego, California; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Marilyn Crewse, her two step-brothers and her step-sister.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg with Pastor Art Fleming officiating. A reception will be held at the Kellogg Chapel following services.
