Joyce Marie (English) Stein, 90
Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joyce Marie Stein, 90, passed away April 12, 2016, at the Renaissance at Coeur d’ Alene. She was born January 1, 1926 in Wallace, Idaho; Joyce was the daughter of William James and Eva Gertrude (Vermillion) English.
Joyce lived all of her life in the Silver Valley. She attended and graduated from the Wallace High School in 1944. Joyce then attended the University of Montana, where she studied business.
Joyce married Gus Zoellner Stein on September 2, 1947 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace. Gus passed away February 24, 2011; they had been married for sixty-four years.
In her earlier years, Joyce had worked for Brown, Peacock and Keane Law Office as a secretary/receptionist for several years. She then became a devoted wife and mother to her family.
Joyce loved and enjoyed her family, knitting, needlework, ceramics and gardening. She also enjoyed sewing and had made beautiful costumes for her daughter, Linda’s dance recitals. Joyce was also an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles and cross word puzzles.
Joyce is survived by her beloved family- three children Larry (Peggy) Stein of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Linda (Mike) Newell of Harrison, Idaho and Jim (Mary) Stein of Rathdrum, Idaho; six grandchildren Gus Stein, Ben Stein, Sean Newell, Matt Newell, Will Stein and Russell Stein; three great-grandchildren Kaylin Stein, Luke Stein and Juliette Levarlet-Newell. Joyce is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gus, two sisters and one great-granddaughter Cece.
Graveside services will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg, on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. with Father Jerome Montez officiating.
