Joy Averitt

August 7, 1925 — December 28, 2015


Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Joy Elloise Averitt, of Prichard, Idaho, passed away December 28, 2015 at Mountain Valley Health and Rehab in Kellogg, Idaho.  She was born August 7, 1925 in Asotin, Washington; Joy was the daughter of Cecil and Freda Rogers.

Joy grew up in Moscow, Idaho. On August 7, 1943 she was united in marriage to Donald J. Averitt in Moscow. Together they had four children, Don Averitt, Jr., Judith Ann, Nancy Jayne and Vickey Joy. She spent time living in Florida, Georgia, Washington, & many years in Coeur d’Alene before moving to the Silver Valley in 1994.

Joy enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she loved taking care of her family.

Joy is survived by her four children, Don Averitt, Jr., and Judi King, both of the family home in Prichard, Nancy Averitt-Campbell and Vickey Adamsen both of Coeur d’ Alene; and her brother Gary Rogers of Georgia. She has 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.  Joy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Averitt, Sr., her husband Gerald Ayers; her brother Buddy Rogers and her sister Donna Mattix.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 31st, 9A.M.-2P.M. at Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg. Interment at Shoshone Memorial Gardens.
