Johnny Marple

Johnny Lewis Marple, 67, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away September 13, 2014 at the family home of Pinehurst. He was born October 14, 1946 in Rosenheim, Germany; Johnny was the son of John and Sophie (Schierlitz) Marple.

Johnny attended schools in Fresno, California. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam war.

Johnny married Marci Coats on July 17, 1982 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Johnny served in the newspaper business all of his life. He had worked in the Distribution Department for the Fresno Bee Newspaper of Fresno, California for twenty years and after moving to the Silver Valley in 1982, he worked for the Distribution Department of the Spokesman Review for twenty-three years, before retiring in 2007.

Johnny loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and his motorcycle.

Johnny is survived by his beloved wife Marci of the family home of Pinehurst; seven children Mike (Denise) Brown of the Tri-Cities, Washington, Curtis Upton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sandie (Ted) Carder of Kingston, Sherri (Ken) Dempsey of Osburn, Rick (Laura) Brown of Snohomish, Washington, Tonya Upton of Fresno, California and Allen (Sherri) Marple of Mill Creek, Washington; he is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and three sons David Brown, John “J.P.” Brown and Vince Upton.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Shoshone Memorial Gardens of Pinehurst, Idaho with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the River City Hospice, 3726 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls, Idaho 83854.
