John Henry Mellen, 91, of Kellogg, Idaho passed away July 20, 2014 at the family home of Kellogg. He was born January 26, 1923 in St. Maries, Idaho; John was the son of Franklin and Imogene (Orson) Mellen.
John moved to the Silver Valley as a young boy. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
John was a logger in the timber industry; he had worked for Linfor Saw Mill and various other companies.
John married Rosella Tresner on July 6, 1991 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
John loved and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
John is survived by his beloved wife Rosella Mellen of the family home of Kellogg; four children Kimberley (Rick) Johnson of Smelterville, Idaho, Annette (James) Martin of Eureka, Montana, Charles (Becky) Slusher of Missoula, Montana and Robert “Mike” (Jennifer) Slusher of Manhattan, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother Frank Mellen of Mullan, Idaho; John is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg.
