John Johnstone

John Franklyn Johnson, 86, of Kingston, ID, passed away on May 27, 2022, a beautiful spring day at his home on the river in Kingston. John was born on September 24, 1935 in New York, a son of the late George Johnstone and Mary O’Connell Johnstone.

John enjoyed golf, bowling, playing bridge, and reading. He was an engineer and happy to have his daughters follow in his profession. He was equally proud of his second daughter who earned a doctorate in Christian Education.

John was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He and his wife, Phyllis, served a year-long mission for the church in Salt Lake City, UT.

He will be remembered as a gentle man who was generous and kind to all. His spirit will be missed in his home and family.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Phyllis Powell Johnstone; and three daughters, Marie Daverio, Christy Ann Vaughn, and Adrienne Johnstone.
