Janet Marilyn Whalen, 84
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Janet Marilyn Whalen, 84, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away August 22, 2020 at Mountain Valley of Cascadia of Kellogg. She was born June 10, 1936 in Spokane, Washington; Janet was the daughter of Floyd and Dulcie (Tanner) Milne.
Janet grew up in Spokane, Washington. She attended and graduated from Central Valley High School class of 1954. On February 14, 1976 Janet was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Whalen. Together they raised six children. Dick passed away in 2018.
In her free time Janet enjoyed traveling in the R.V. and visiting new place. She also was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. She also enjoyed going square dancing and was a proud member of the St. Alphonsus Alter Society.
Janet is survived by her two sisters; Idell and Darell Jenicek of Post Falls, Idaho Ruth Aubrey of Richland, Washington, six children; Pat Whalen of Cataldo, Idaho, Dorothy Sebastian of Jefferson, Oregon, Curt and Angie Whalen of North Pole, Alaska, Bret and Kim Monigold of Spokane Valley, Washington, Chet Monigold of Harlingen, Texas and Colette and David Anthony of Osburn, Idaho; nineteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law Steve Aubrey, daughter-in-law Cindy Monigold, step grandson Daniel Anthony and two great-granddaughters.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg with Father Jerome Montez serving as celebrant.
