James “Jim” Joseph King, 84

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, James “Jim” Joseph King, 84, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away February 18, 2017 at the Schneidmiller House of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.  He was born July 10, 1932 in Mullan, Idaho; Jim was the son of Frank King and Mary  and Sig Segarini.

Jim attended the Kellogg High School, where he played and excelled in all sports; he graduated in 1950.  Jim was also a member of the Dynasty Football Team of Kellogg in the 1950’s.  Jim attended the Gonzaga University for two years and completed his education at the University of Idaho receiving a degree in civil engineering.

Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Jim grew up in the Silver Valley and then left for thirty years; but twenty years ago, he returned to the Valley to help his brother, Jack, take care of his parents Sig and Mary Segarini.  After the passing of their parents, Jim continued to reside in the family home of Kellogg.

Jim had first worked for Morrison Knudsen company for several years as a civil engineer; he then moved to California and worked for Owl Trucking company specializing in drainage repair.  Then lastly, Jim worked as manager of quality control for Star Instruments of Los Angeles, California.

Jim was a member of the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg.  He loved and enjoyed golfing, bowling or any type of sports; Jim was an avid Gonzaga fan.

Jim is survived by four children Jimmy and Nancy King of Morongo Valley, California, Jennifer and David Arnaiz of Hailey, Idaho, Tracy and Mike Wenschlag of Huntington Beach, California and Mende and Dave Kitzman of Peru; three adopted children Robert and Jennifer Nicholl of San Juan Capistrano, California, Colleen King of California and Steven and Jeannie King of Mission Viejo, California; twenty-two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother Jack and Kay King of Prichard, Idaho; one nephew John King, three great-nieces and two great-great nieces.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents Sig and Mary Segarini and one niece Julie.

Rosary Vigil services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017, at 6:00 P.M. at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg; and a Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church with Father Jerome Montez serving as celebrant.  A reception/luncheon and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the St. Rita’s Fellowship Hall following services.  Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Catholic Daughters or the Knights of Columbus of the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg.
