James “Jim” P. Coberly, 73, passed away on November 26, 2022 at Mountain Valley of Cascadia in Kellogg, ID with his daughter, Amber, by his side. Jim had just enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving week with many visits from his family before he went on home to the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jim was born on June 2, 1949 in Sacramento, CA, a son of the late Don and Jeri Coberly. At the age of 17, Jim left school to enlist in the US Marine Corps to go fight in Vietnam. In the early 1970’s, he moved his family to Wallace, ID to work at the Lucky Friday and Sunshine mines. While there, he met a telephone contractor who introduced him to the telecommunication industry; thus beginning Jim’s career installing and maintaining telephone cables throughout the Northwest and beyond. He retired from CenturyLink in Spokane in 2014 due to health concerns.
You could often find Jim at many of the gun shows in the area. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid supporter o our 2nd Amendment rights. He fiercely loved his big family and taught them to love God and love our country. Jim was a generous spirit who would help anyone with anything.
Jim is survived by his three daughters, Christine (Jay) Davis of Osburn, ID, Angela (Bruce) Clapp of Lewiston, ID, and Amber Bryant of Kingston, ID; a son, Shawn Coberly of Pinehurst, ID; a brother, David (Ines) Coberly and their daughter, Pollyanna; a sister, JoAnne Giannecchini of Lodi, CA, and her son, Kevin; his eight grandchildren, Jessica, AnnaLia, Brie, Carson, Rafe, Pierlee, Nick, and Ethan; and three great-grandchildren, Tannin, Brianna, and Rachael. Jim also had many other step-children and their families whom he cherished as his own.
At Jim’s request, no services will be held, but his family will gather for a celebration of his life in the spring.
