Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, James “Jamie” Garfield Winterset, 58, of Wallace, Idaho passed away March 29, 2014 at the family home of Wallace. He was born July 12, 1955 in Santa Ana, California; Jamie was the son of John S. and Eileen E. (Compton) Winterset.
Jamie attended and graduated from the North High School of Bakersfield, California in 1973. He then attended Cal State of Bakersfield.
Jamie married Sharon A. Klohn on June 1, 1981 in Bakersfield, California. Jamie, Sharon and family moved to the Silver Valley in 1993 from Bakersfield.
Jamie served as vice president of Solar Sales; many employees always considered Jamie a wonderful mentor and boss. Jamie had also owned and operated the Great Northern Printing Company of Wallace. He served on the Wallace City Council for nine years and had served as chairman of the City Police Commission; he was a member of the Historic Wallace Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in the creation of the $5,000 Reversal Drawing dinner- a great fund raiser for the Chamber; he was also instrumental in forming the flower basket/beautification project for the City of Wallace; he cared for our community youth and had started the Youth Center of Wallace; Jamie was a member of the Wallace Elks Lodge and the Osburn Lions Club.
Jamie loved and enjoyed his family, composing music, playing his guitar and singing, gardening, hiking and backpacking, biking, rock climbing, cross country skiing and snow boarding.
Jamie is survived by his wife Sharon Winterset of the family home of Wallace; four children Michelle (Randy) Robison of Bakersfield, California, Kelley Lorenzen and (Chris Glorioso) of Wylie, Texas, Rachel Winterset of Seattle, Washington and James “Michael” (Ashley) Winterset of Spokane Valley, Washington; three grandsons and one newly born granddaughter; one sister Carol Baughman of St. Helens, Oregon; one brother John (Karen) Winterset of Bakersfield; his father-in-law Robert C. (Chanook) Klohn of Seffner, Florida; two brother-in-laws Matthew (Vicki) Klohn of Rosamond, California and Mark (Monica) Klohn of Ocala, Florida; his sister-in-law Stacy (Bryon) Soto of Bakersfield; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jamie was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law Barbara.
A Celebration of Jamie’s Life will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Night Rock of Wallace.
